Chris Warren Closes in on Pete Weber's PBA Regional Record

Chris Warren of Grants Pass, Ore., posted a 6-2 match play record and a 3,510 pinfall total Sunday to win the PBA Boise Northwest/West Open presented by Columbia 300 at 20th Century Lanes in Boise, Idaho, moving to within one title of catching PBA Hall of Famer Pete Weber for the all-time QubicaAMF PBA Regional titles lead.
Warren, who now owns 47 standard PBA Regional titles, earned $2,000 when he defeated David Haynes of Las Vegas by 39 pins for the title. Warren, 52, also has won six PBA Tour titles and one PBA50 Regional title for 54 overall PBA titles. In addition to his record 48 standard PBA Regional titles, Weber has won 37 PBA Tour, 10 PBA50 Tour and four PBA50 Regional titles, tying fellow hall of famer Walter Ray Williams Jr. with 99 overall PBA titles.
Haynes finished with 3,471 total pins for his 16 games, including match play bonus pins.
In the companion PBA50 Open, Tony Rodriguez of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., went 5-1 and knocked down 2,925 total pins for 14 games to top Wayne Manwill of Boise, Idaho. Manwill had a 5-1 match play record and 2,839 pins.
