Collegiate Ticker - Feb. 12, 2025

The 2024-2025 United States Bowling Congress Collegiate regular season is nearing its end after the second-to-last weekend of competition  saw 10 events take place around the country, including the McKendree Baker Challenge in Fairview Heights, Illinois.

Twelve men’s varsity teams and nine women’s varsity teams bowled 40 Baker games before heading into a best-of-three match-play bracket.

The Wichita State men and Lindenwood women qualified as the top seeds in the bracket, and the Shocker men stayed hot, sweeping all three of their opponents to come out with the win as they defeated Newman in the title match.

On the women’s side, host school McKendree defeated Midland (2-1) and Newman (2-0) to earn a bout against Missouri Baptist in the title match. It was another 2-0 sweep for the Bearcats as they defended their home turf.

In other collegiate action:

- At the Cedar Valley Invite in Waterloo, Iowa, the Mount Mercy men and Coe women won the event. Mount Mercy’s Keaton Ostrowski achieved perfection in Game 3.

- At the Mount Shootout in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, the Fairleigh Dickinson women defeated Niagara, 4-1, in the title match.

- At the American Heartland Bowling Association (AHBA) Roseland Lanes Collegiate Open in Oakwood Village, Ohio, the Erie CC men and Walsh women notched conference wins.

- At the second Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Round Robin event, the William Smith and Saint Vincent women went 6-1 in matches. Saint Vincent ended 13-1 overall and was crowned as regular-season champions. The AMCC Championships will begin Feb. 21.

- At the Flyer Classic in Lockport, Illinois, the Jacksonville State women took down North Carolina A&T in a title match that went the full seven-game set.

- At the fourth Ohio Bowling Conference event in Columbus, Ohio, the Ohio State men and Muskingum women left as conference winners.

- At the Scotty Classic in Jackson, Michigan, the Michigan-Dearborn men had a narrow victory while the Spring Arbor women started strong and cruised to a win.

- At the Southwest Intercollegiate Bowling Conference (SWIBC) Championship, the Texas-San Antonio men and Texas A&M women left as conference champions.

- At the Tony Reyes Memorial Collegiate Classic in San Jose, California, the San Jose State men and women swept the event.

One weekend remains before Intercollegiate Team Championship Sectional assignments are announced, with the Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis, a Tier I event, capping off the regular season.
