Fairleigh Dickinson takes James Brown Bowling Invitational
TOWSON, Md. -
Fairleigh Dickinson claimed the top seed in qualifying and then beat Nebraska, 4-2, in the title match to claim the James Brown Bowling Invitational held Feb. 17-19 at AMF Towson Lanes.

In winning their fifth tournament title of the season, the Knights had a 9,362 pinfall total during qualifying to beat out Vanderbilt (8,927) for the top spot. Nebraska was third in qualifying at 8,895 followed by Central Missouri (8,816) and Sacred Heart (8,798). Fairleigh Dickinson beat Central Missouri in the semifinals while Nebraska topped Vanderbilt to reach the title match.

Christina Leid of St. Francis averaged 223 over five games (1,115 total) to take individual honors ahead of Central Missouri's Kara Richard (1,098). Fairleigh Dickinson's Danielle McEwan (1,092) was third followed by Kutztown's Kayla Jones (1,087) and Brittni Hamilton (1,085) of Vanderbilt.

Backhaul Direct Hoosier Classic
INDIANAPOLIS -
The Lindenwood men and Newman women emerged as the champions of the 2012 Backhaul Direct Hoosier Classic, the largest USBC Collegiate event of the season.

The Newman women took down top seed Wichita State, 3-1, in the best-of-five title match. Wichita State's Jazreel Tan led the women's individual standings with 1,866 for nine games. Lindenwood took a 3-2 victory over Webber International for the men's title. Marshall Kent of Robert Morris-Illinois took top individual honors with a nine-game total of 1,933.

NJCAA Region III Championships
UTICA, N.Y. -
Hudson Valley Community College claimed the men's title while Mohawk Valley Community College took the women's division at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region III Tournament held Feb. 9 at AMF Pin-O-Rama Lanes.

Ryan Sickler led the men's division with a 1,737 total (217.1 average for eight games) in leading Hudson Valley, which had a 9,519 pinfall total to top Schenectady County Community College (9,177) and Corning Community College (9,042).

In the women's division, Mohawk Valley posted a 7,814 pinfall total with Schenectady County Community College taking second at 7,788 followed by Erie Community College (7,661) and Herkimer County Community College (7,552). Sarah Edenhofer of Herkimer took individual honors with a 1,570 total (196.2 average).


NJCAA Region XV Championships
WAPPINGERS, N.Y. -
Suffolk County Community College won both the men's and women's titles at the NJCAA Region XV Tournament held Feb. 17-18 at the Holiday Hoe Bowl.

The Suffolk County CC men's team, led by top individual performers Ed Tuskin and Matt Skalachki, posted a 13,150 pinfall total over 12 games to top Dutchess Community College (12,099) and Nassau Community College (12,081). The Suffolk County women's team was led by Tammy Miller and Kelly McDermott.
