Collegiate Ticker - Feb. 4, 2015

The Siena Heights women and Aquinas men took home the hardware at the Jayhawk Great Lakes Classic in Muskegon, Michigan, to highlight a busy weekend in collegiate bowling.

The Siena Heights women led by more than 100 pins after four traditional games at Northway Lanes, but saw Aquinas-A nearly even the score in Baker competition heading into the final set. Siena Heights put everything together in the finale to hold onto the win with a final tally of 6,846. Aquinas-A (6,748) took second and Aquinas-B (5,779) finished third.

The Aquinas men made their move into the top spot during Baker competition as they captured the win with a 7,032 overall score. Schoolcraft ended up in second with 6,935, while Rochester (6,885) took third.

A pair of Siena Heights teammates paced the individual standings on the women's side as Allison Caswell (four-game total of 809) and Tiffany Logan (789) set the bar. Schoolcraft's Angela Rodriguez finished third with 765.

Kenny DeGraaf of Siena Heights led the way in the men's individual standings with a four-game score of 947. Rochester's Jeff Suma Jr. finished strong to take second with 931, and Dakota Neff of Aquinas rounded out the top three with 882.

The USBC Collegiate program impacts the future of the sport by providing student-athletes with the opportunity to compete across the country and continue their education.

- At the Red Flash Invitational in Altoona, Pennsylvania, St. Francis-Pa. bested Norfolk State, 4-1, to earn the win.

- At the Prairie View A&M Invitational in Arlington, Texas, Nebraska defeated Fairleigh Dickinson, 4-3, to capture the title for the third consecutive year.

- At the Mardi-Bob Invitational in Poughkeepsie, New York, the Schenectady men cruised to the victory while Sacred Heart held off the field on the women's side.

- At the Hastings College Bronco Open in Hastings, Nebraska, the Midland men recorded a wire-to-wire win while Hastings won on the women's side.

- At the Wisconsin Collegiate Bowling Conference No. 3 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the Whitewater men and Highland women cruised to the top spot.

- At the AHIBC III, the Wright State women and Davenport men were victorious.

- At the Westchester Classic in Wappingers Falls, New York, the Stony Brook men and Corning women captured big wins over the field.

At the AHIBC IV, the Saginaw Valley State men squeaked by Lawrence Tech for the title, while the Bowling Green State women rallied during Baker competition to earn the win.
