Collegiate Ticker - Feb. 4, 2025
The United States Bowling Congress Collegiate regular season inches closer to its conclusion with just two weekends remaining before sectional assignments are announced. This past weekend saw 12 events contested, including the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Lynne Jordan Memorial in Louisville, Kentucky.
Fourteen men’s varsity teams and nine women’s varsity teams each bowled four individual games and eight Baker games as total pinfall determined the winners.
In the men’s field, Milligan led over McKendree by a small margin heading into the Baker portion of the event. Milligan then fired off multiple games over 220, including a 300 in the second-to-last game to pull away and finish with an overall total of 6,156, over 200 pins ahead of McKendree.
Dale Horstmann of McKendree led all men with a four-game total of 966 while Pikeville’s Andrew Robitaille and Belmont Abbey’s Connor Breaman tied for second with 921. Pikeville’s Joshua Maslanich and Shawnee State’s Zachary Ison tied for fourth with 909.
In the women’s field, Pikeville started hot and stayed hot, heading into the Baker games over 400 pins ahead of second place. They maintained their torrid pace during the Baker portion, finishing as the tournament winner by over 500 pins.
A pair of Pikeville teammates finished first and second in the individual standings, with Katarina Hagler ending with 930 and Kaytlen Peck with 921. Union Commonwealth’s Laila Lambert was third with 901, Cumberland’s Madison Taylor finished fourth with 892 and Tennessee Wesleyan’s Landry West rounded out the top five with 855.
The following day at the MSC Thomas N. Burris Memorial, the Tennessee Wesleyan men won while the Pikeville women completed the weekend sweep.
In other collegiate action:
- The Sin City Open and Rebel Classic took place in Las Vegas, and the Arizona State men and San Jose State women swept both events.
- At the Cedar Valley Invite in Waterloo, Iowa, the Lindenwood men and women completed an event sweep.
- At the Griffin Baker Classic in Deptford, New Jersey, the Dominican-New York women won by 141 pins.
- At the Northeast Classic in Lodi, New Jersey, the Stony Brook men earned a victory.
- At the Scotty Classic in Jackson, Michigan, the Aquinas men and Spring Arbor women earned wins.
- At Crossroads League Bowling #4 in Jackson, Michigan, the Marian-Indiana men and Spring Arbor women won. The following day at the CLB Championships, the Spring Arbor men and women claimed league titles.
- At the Columbia 300 Saints Invite in St. Louis, the Sacred Heart women won over Wichita State, four games to two, in the title match. Oklahoma Christian also had a Baker 300 during bracket play.
- At the fourth Great Lakes Bowling Conference event in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the Wisconsin-Whitewater men and Marian-Wisconsin women claimed victories.
Next weekend will see 12 events contested.
