The 2023-2024 United States Bowling Congress Collegiate season came back from the holiday break with the Kegel/Illinois State Bowling Proprietors Association Midwest Collegiate Classic in Addison, Illinois.

The Tier I event featured 38 men’s teams and 29 women’s teams competing in the tournament, where all teams bowled five individual games and 20 Baker games, with total pinfall determining the winner.

The Mount Mercy men (9,460) and Savannah College of Art and Design-Savannah women (8,503) ended the weekend as the victors. This was each program’s fourth win of the season, and Mount Mercy’s first Tier I victory in its men’s program’s history.

Mount Mercy also had a pair of teammates make the all-tournament team, as Andru Blaney and Kai Yamada placed second and third with 1,138 and 1,128, respectively. Northwestern Ohio’s Gunner Kruse led all men with 1,202, while Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Tanner Ausec (1,107) and Saint Xavier’s Bobby Habetler (1,105) also earned all-tournament nods.

On the women’s side, SCAD-Savannah had the top two all-tournament spots, with Grace Bringham leading with 1,064 and Lara Kurt in second with 1,016. Concordia’s Brooke Binder (1,013), Mount Mercy’s Megan Kolberg (1,011) and McKendree’s Lexus Petrich (984) earned all-tournament honors as well.

In other collegiate action:

- At the Stormin’ Blue and White Vegas Classic in Las Vegas from Jan. 8-10, the Jacksonville State women defeated Nebraska in seven games to win the event.

- At the Antelope Shoot-Out in Glendale, Arizona, the Texas-San Antonio men and Grand Canyon women left with wins.

- At the Devil’s Duel in Glendale, Arizona, the Arizona Christian men and Grand Canyon women won the event.

- At the Greater Pittsburgh Collegiate Classic in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, the Shawnee State men and Mount St. Mary’s women took home victories.

- At the Viking Classic in Carmel, New York, the Suffolk County CC men lapped the field to win.
