Lindenwood men, Wichita State women narrowly take Blue and Gold titles
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Lindenwood men's team captured its sixth tournament title of the season while Wichita State snared the women's title at the Blue and Gold Classic. The Tier I event was held Jan. 21-22 at Chippewa Bowl.

Lindenwood posted a 10,005 pinfall total, including a tournament-high 1,269 game in the second-to-last game of the event, to edge Saginaw Valley State by four pins in the 66-team field. Robert Morris-Illinois (9,915) was third, Morehead State (9,851) finished fourth and Wichita State (9,713) rounded out the top five.

Aaron Lorincz of Saginaw Valley State University had a 2,146 pinfall total (238.4 average for nine games) to edge Robert Morris-Illinois' Marshall Kent (2,142) and Jacob Kent (2,133) for men's individual honors. Brad Miller (2,110) of Lindenwood was fourth and Morehead State's Mike Conn (2,089) was fifth.

Wichita State was able to overtake Robert Morris-Illinois in the final game to claim the women's title by a single pin. Wichita State had a final-game 1,020 for a 9,098 pinfall total while Robert Morris-Illinois closed with a 941 for a 9,097 total. Lindenwood (8,786) was third, followed by William Penn (8,506) and Florida State (8,445) in the 44-team field.

In the women's individual results, Katie Sexton of Robert Morris-Illinois claimed top honors with 2,030 pinfall total (225.6 average). Wichita State's Jazreel Tan (1,987) was second followed by Lindenwood's Amanda Greene (1,899), Alejandra Mora (1,891) of Robert Morris-Illinois and Davenport's Reba Wilke (1,856).

Big Red Invitational
LINCOLN, Neb. - Arkansas State won the Big Red Invitational for its first victory of the season. The event was held at Sun Valley Lanes on Jan. 19-21.

Arkansas State players averaged 208.18 during the tournament to edge Central Missouri (206.84) and Nebraska (206.18). Sam Houston State (196.77) was fourth and Wisconsin-Whitewater (196.70) took fifth.

Gabriella Mayfield of Central Missouri led the field with a 1,189 pinfall total (237.80 average) followed by Arkansas State's Sarah Lokker (1,138) and Sam Houston State's Dayna Galganski (1,125). Kristina Mickelson (1,110) of Nebraska and Arkansas State's Rachael Gittings (1,100) completed the top five.

Terriers New Year Knock Down
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Led by top individual Danielle McEwan, Fairleigh Dickinson beat tournament host St. Francis, N.Y., to claim the title at the Terriers New Year Knock Down event held Jan. 21-22 at Gil Hodges Lanes.

Devils Duals
PHOENIX - Fresno State beat Midland in the best-of-five title match to capture the first event of the Arizona State Devils Duals held at AMF Squaw Peak on Jan. 21. Midland came back the next day to edge Fresno State to claim the second title.

BATON ROUGE, La. - Alabama A&M went 6-0 while Southern's Shannon Pearson topped all individuals at the Southwestern Athletic Conference Bowling West Roundup held January 20-22 at Metro Bowl.

LAUREL, Md. - Norfolk State beat the tournament's defending champion, Morgan State, to win the Frederick E. Underwood Lady Bulldogs Classic held Jan. 20-22 at AMF Laurel Lanes.
