The 2024-2025 United States Bowling Congress Collegiate season marched on this past weekend with 14 events contested around the country, one of them being the two-day Eagle Invitational in Belton, Missouri.
The Eagle Invitational saw 14 men’s varsity teams and 12 women’s varsity teams bowl five individual games on Day 1 before coming back for 25 Baker games on Day 2. Each day was its own separate event.
Day 1 saw a battle for the top spot on both sides of the field, and it was the Oklahoma Christian men and McPherson women who came out as winners on Day 1. Oklahoma Christian closed its set with team games of 1,112, 1,101 and 1,036 to prevail by 48 pins over Avila, while McPherson stayed steady all day.
Quincy’s Nathan Massey led the way in the men’s field with a five-game total of 1,140 and was joined by teammate Anthony Lundy in the top five; Lundy placed fifth with 1,087. Avila’s Davis Best was second overall with 1,107, while Southern Nazarene teammates Dylan Terada and Jacob Fitzgerald tied for third with 1,099.
On the women’s side, Missouri Baptist’s Kassandra Foss led the way with 954, joined in the top five by teammate Amber Lymenstull, who finished in fourth with 916. McPherson teammates Veronyca West and Alyssa Porcelli placed second and third with 945 and 939, respectively. Ottawa-Kansas’ Gerilynn Delegarito was fifth with 910.
Day 2 of the event was a clean sweep for Ottawa-Kansas as both the men and women came out victorious. The men had a narrow 22-pin win over Quincy while the women finished 116 pins ahead of Missouri Baptist.
In other collegiate action:
- At the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) – Greater Detroit Open in Allen Park, Michigan, the St. Francis-Illinois men and Trine women left with conference wins.
- In Monroe, Michigan, the sixth American Heartland Bowling Association (AHBA) event took place, with the Lawrence Tech men and Cleary women coming out victorious.
- The Mid-South Conference (MSC) had two events in Louisville, Kentucky: The MSC Lynne Jordan Memorial and the MSC Thomas N. Burris. The Pikeville men won the Lynne Jordan Memorial while the Webber men came out on top at the Thomas N. Burris event. On the women’s side, the ladies from Lindenwood won both events.
- At the Kohawk Invitational in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the Mount Mercy men and women swept the event.
- At the Eastern Intercollegiate Bowling Tournaments (EIBT) events 3 and 4 in Staten Island, New York, the New Jersey Institute of Tech men and Monmouth women led Event 3, while the SUNY men and Sacred Heart women won Event 4.
- At the 2025 Crossroads Tournament #3 in Jackson, Michigan, the Spring Arbor men and Marian-Indiana women won the event.
- At the Prairie View Invitational in Arlington, Texas, the Vanderbilt women defeated Jacksonville State in the title match (4-0) to win.
- At the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Event II in Midlothian, Virginia, the Bowie State women went a perfect 12-0 on the weekend to stay atop the conference standings.
- The Hudson Valley CC men and women won the Blue & Orange Invitational in Yonkers, New York, and followed that up with a win at the Walter J. Hauck Memorial Classic in Carmel, New York.
Next weekend will see 13 events contested across the country.
