The Schenectady women and Suffolk CC men posted big wins at the National Junior College Athletic Association National Invitational Championships in Buffalo, New York, this past weekend.

The 2016 event, which took place at Airport Lanes, featured a total of 21 games, including three-game sets of doubles and singles, six traditional team games and nine Baker games.

The Schenectady women made their move during the six traditional games and never looked back, finishing the event with an 11,928 total to secure the victory by more than 350 pins. Corning CC and Iowa Central CC tied for second with 11,562.

Corning's Emily Notebaert swept the top spots in doubles, singles and all-events on the women's side. Notebaert paired with Victora Maracle to capture the doubles win with a 1,112 total, posted a winning total of 606 in singles and added the all-events victory with a 12-game total of 2,404, a 200.3 average.

Suffolk's Brianna Meyer recorded three runner-up finishes as she teamed with Emily Clark in doubles (1,092) and added 567 in singles to finish with a 2,232 all-events tally.

The Suffolk men easily distanced themselves from the rest of the 20-team field as they rolled to victory by nearly 400 pins with a final total of 13,100. Iowa Central CC finished second with 12,716, while Schenectady took third with 12,638.

Erie CC's Dana Voytovich finished at the top of the men's standings in singles and all-events. Voytovich used a 676 set to earn the singles win, and that effort helped propel him to the top spot in all-events with a 2,406 total (200.5 average). Mohawk Valley CC's Bob Jones took second in singles with 642, while Highland CC's Kaine McNett finished as the runner-up in all-events with 2,379.

Suffolk's James Tagliaferro and John Kavanaugh added a doubles title to their team win as the only duo to average more than 200 during the set. Kavanaugh led the way with a 664 series, while Tagliaferro added 570 to give the pair a 1,234 total. Westmoreland County's Sean Tomich and Jacob Fitch finished second with 1,171.
