Maryland Eastern Shore captures MEAC title
GREENSBORO, N.C - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore won its fifth Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championship with a 4-0 victory over Morgan State in the title match.

The MEAC tournament was held March 18-20 at Gate City Lanes. UMES led the eight-team field in qualifying with a 7,588 pinfall total followed by defending MEAC champion Delaware State, Florida A&M, Norfolk State and Hampton.

Morgan State, the No. 6 qualifier, had to defeat Delaware State twice in the double-elimination bracket to reach the title match. UMES junior Paula Vilas was selected Outstanding Tournament Performer.

Nebraska takes Music City Classic
SMYRNA, Tenn. - Nebraska won its fourth title of the season, knocking off top qualifier Fairleigh Dickinson to win the Columbia 300 Music City Classic held at the Smyrna Bowling Center on March 18-20.

Nebraska, the fourth qualifier, dropped the opening game in the best-of-seven title match but then took the next four games to claim the title.

No. 3 qualifier Central Missouri beat No. 2 Vanderbilt, 4-1, for third place but Vanderbilt rolled the second perfect game in the school's history in the match. It was the first 300 in the tournament's seven-year history.

Fairleigh Dickinson's Danielle McEwan (1,370) topped teammate Joely Carrillo (1,306) for individual honors with Nebraska's Katie Ann Sopp (1,296) taking third.

Fayetteville State rolls to CIAA title
DURHAM, N.C. - Fayetteville State won the 2011 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Bowling Championship held March 19-21 at AMF Durham Lanes.

The top qualifier in the 13-team field, Fayetteville State took the title with a 4-2 victory over defending CIAA champion Bowie State in the double-elimination bracket.

Senior Akira Turner, who also was a member of Fayetteville State's 2007 CIAA championship team, led all individuals with an 1,195 total followed by Shanice Watkins of Elizabeth City State and Sasha Thornhill of Johnson C. Smith.
