Collegiate Ticker - Nov. 12, 2025

The 2025-2026 United States Bowling Congress Collegiate season rolled on last weekend with 20 events nationwide, highlighted by the Leatherneck Classic in Rockford, Illinois.

Across two centers, the men’s varsity field featured 39 teams while the women’s division had 28. Qualifying consisted of five individual games and 16 Baker games before the top eight teams in each division advanced to the match-play bracket, where matches were best-of-five Baker games.

In the men’s bracket, No. 7 Newman swept No. 2 St. Ambrose before edging No. 3 Wichita State in a decisive Game 5, 179-171, to reach the final. There, the Jets faced No. 5 Calumet, which swept No. 4 Marian-Wisconsin and held off top seed Mount Mercy, 179-167.

Calumet jumped to a 2-0 match lead before Newman responded with two wins of its own, setting up a tournament-winning Game 5. It was Newman that came out on top, 198-187, for its second tournament win of the season.

Marian-Wisconsin’s Jaysen Spanbauer led the men’s field with 1,190 across five games, followed by Wichita State’s Brandon Caruso at 1,181. St. Ambrose’s Jackson Satterlee had 1,155 and was joined by teammate Tom Burns in the top five with 1,144, which was good for fifth. St. Francis-Illinois’ Jalen Pfaff was fourth at 1,149.

In the women’s bracket, No. 3 Mount Mercy defeated No. 6 William Penn and No. 2 Lindenwood, both in four games, to reach the title match against No. 5 Indiana Tech. The Mustangs’ opponent would be No. 5 Indiana Tech, which advanced to the finals thanks to wins over No. 4 Calumet and No. 1 Judson.

The finals saw Mount Mercy take a 2-0 lead over Indiana Tech before the Warriors took Game 3, but the Mustangs didn’t let up in Game 4 and won, 210-170, for their second straight win of the season.
