The 2024-2025 United States Bowling Congress Collegiate season is approaching its halfway point, and this past weekend’s excitement included the SCAD Collegiate Shootout in Savannah, Georgia.
Savannah College Art of Design-Savannah hosted their home tournament at Bowlero Savannah, and each men’s and women’s team bowled five individual games and 12 Baker games. The top four teams in each division moved on to a best-of-five match-play bracket.
In the men’s division, SCAD-Savannah qualified second and swept SCAD-Atlanta to advance to the title match against Webber International. The teams were tied at one game each before the Bees claimed Games 3 and 4 to defend their home turf and win the event.
SCAD-Savannah’s Kai Evans led all men with a five-game total of 1,077, while Barton’s Braeden Barnes and South Florida’s Sidney Schroschk tied for second with 1,036. Webber teammates Michael Weyl and Austin Coffield rounded out the top five with 1,033 and 1,028, respectively.
On the women’s side, SCAD-Savannah led qualifying and swept Alabama-Tuscaloosa in the semifinals to face SCAD-Atlanta in the finals. SCAD-Savannah went down 2-1 before coming back to win the tournament.
SCAD-Savannah’s Addy Nelson led the women’s field with 912 while teammate Sofia Ramirez-Granick placed fifth with 858. Webber teammates Sofia Tosto (896), Sara Miric (886) and Liberty McKinney (869) took second through fourth, respectively.
In other collegiate action:
- At the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Round Robin 1 in Waterloo, New York, the St. Vincent women went a perfect 7-0 to lead the event.
- At the Colonial Lanes Classic in Harahan, Louisiana, the Stephen F. Austin women defeated Vanderbilt in an extra game to win the tournament.
- At the Falcon Classic in Sandusky, Ohio, the Spring Arbor men and women narrowly won, with the men leading by 30 pins and the women by 12 pins.
- At the Mid Iowa Bowling Conference Event 2 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the Wartburg men and Coe women had decisive victories.
- At the Ohio Bowling Conference Event 3 in Columbus, Ohio, the Northwestern Ohio men and Wright State women left with conference wins.
- At the CSU Lady Eagles Invitational in Baltimore, the Felician women defeated Delaware State in the finals in five games to win.
Eleven tournaments are up next this weekend before a break for Thanksgiving.
