Collegiate Ticker - Nov. 26, 2025

The 2025-2026 United States Bowling Congress Collegiate season heads into the Thanksgiving break after a weekend that included 10 events, highlighted by the McKendree Match Games in Fairview Heights, Illinois (men), and Belleville, Illinois (women), a Tier I event.

There were 30 men’s varsity teams and 22 women’s varsity teams in attendance, with all teams bowling five individual games and 16 Baker games before the top eight in both divisions advanced to the best-of-three Baker bracket.

In the men’s bracket, it was No. 5 seed Wichita State and No. 6 seed Quincy in the title match. Wichita State had taken down No. 4 Newman and No. 8 Marian-Indiana while Quincy defeated No. 3 Savannah College of Art and Design-Savannah and No. 2 McKendree. The Shockers swept Quincy in two close matches (184-183, 172-171) to win the event.

McKendree’s Nathan Bassford led all men with a five-game total of 1,160 while teammate Rhett Detering placed third with 1,144. Baker’s Ari Tishman was second with 1,153 while Tennessee Wesleyan’s Cameron Compton (1,140) and Wartburg’s Louis Shontz (1,124) rounded out the top five. McKendree’s Dale Horstmann achieved perfection during Game 4 for the only 300 of the event.

Over on the women’s side, the last two teams standing after making their way through the bracket were No. 1 Mount Mercy and No. 3 SCAD-Savannah. Mount Mercy had defeated No. 8 Quincy and No. 5 Cumberland, while SCAD-Savannah took down No. 6 McKendree and No. 7 Tennessee Wesleyan. In the end, Mount Mercy left with the title.

Two pairs of teammates finished in the top five, with SCAD-Savannah’s Elizabeth Weeks leading all women with 1,080 while Paris Mendones was fifth at 999. Mount Mercy’s Savannah Dickson (1,020) and Irdina Batrisyia Mat Aris (1,000) were second and fourth, respectively, and Cumberland’s Madison Taylor was third with 1,004.
