In an early-season test for many teams, the Webber International men and women swept the titles at the Brunswick Southern Collegiate Classic, a major event on the USBC Collegiate schedule.

The USBC Collegiate Tier I event featured a capacity field of 24 men's teams and 16 women's teams at Brunswick Zone Austell in Marietta, Ga.

The men's division was the closest at the top of the standings as Webber International escaped with a narrow 60-pin victory over McKendree. The Warriors finished with 11,067, while McKendree totaled 11,007. Pikeville took second with 10,739.

Webber International won the women's division with relative ease, finishing with 10,648 and winning by more than 450 pins. Florida State finished second with 10,189, while Pikeville finished just one pin behind FSU with 10,188.

McKendree took the top two spots in the men's individual rankings with Ryan Patterson finishing first with a six-game total of 1,370 (228.33 average) and AJ Johnson taking second with 1,324. Webber's Justin Dunn was third with 1,308, while his teammate Kristijonas Sergejevas was fourth with 1,296. Freddie Ringrose of Morehead State rounded out the all-tournament team with 1,272.

Regina Laglia of Martin Methodist had the top score for the women with a six-game total of 1,277 (212.83 average). Katelyn Simpson of Pikeville was second with 1,221, Sara Kienzle of Florida was third with 1,188, Pamela Sandoval of Victory was fourth with 1,185 and Andrea Davis of Florida State was fifth with 1,168.

In other USBC Collegiate action over the weekend:

- At the FDU New Jersey Jamboree in Elmwood Park, N.J., Stephen F. Austin came from the No. 3 seed to win the title by defeating second seed Wisconsin-Whitewater, 4-1, in the title match.

- At the American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference II and III meets, the Wright State women and Notre Dame-Ohio men won the AHIBC II meet, while at the AHIBC III meet, the Notre Dame-Ohio men won again with Bowling Green topping the women.

- At the Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge in Lawrence, Kan., the Midland men and Wichita State women picked up victories.
