Purdue men, McKendree women power way to wins at Brickyard Classic

INDIANAPOLIS -
The Purdue men and McKendree women dominated the field to win titles at the Brickyard Classic.

Purdue (left) finished with a 9,152 total, topping McKendree's men's team by more than 350 pins. Robert Morris-Illinois finished third.

Purdue's T.J. Schmidt was the high individual with a six-game total of 1,340, an average of 223.3, while Matt Staninger of Marian was second with 1,330.

The McKendree women's team finished with a total of 8,601 to finish 700 pins ahead of second-place finisher Purdue. Robert Morris-Illinois took third.

McKendree players occupied the top three individual positions in the standings with Danielle Belobraydich leading the way with 1,203. Brandi Branka was second with 1,197, while Alli Payne was third at 1,169.

FSU men, Webber women claim Central Florida Classic titles

ORLANDO, Fla. -
The Florida State men and Webber International women came away with victories at the 2010 Central Florida Classic.

Florida State defeated Webber International-Green in the finals of the four-team bracket, 2-1. In the semifinals, Florida State knocked off Webber International-Gold, 2-0, while Webber International-Green defeated Central Florida-Gold, 2-1.

Webber International-Gold led the qualifying portion of the event with an 11,509 total, while Central Florida-Gold was second at 10,990. Central Florida's Joe May was the top individual finisher with 1,490 for seven games, an average of 212.8, while Florida Atlantic's Chris Spoo was second with 1,451.

On the women's side, Webber International-Gold defeated Florida, 2-1, in the finals. Webber International-Gold took down teammates Webber International-Green in the semifinals, 2-0, while Florida knocked off Florida State, 2-1.

Florida State led qualifying with 10,516, while Webber International-Gold was second with 10,362. Florida State's Pauline Harris and Webber's Yosi Leon-Garcia tied for high individual honors with 1,356.

Stony Brook men win Blue Hen Open

WILMINGTON, Del. -
The Stony Book men defeated Penn State Berks-Blue, 372-369, in the two-game total pins championship match of the Blue Hen Open.

William Paterson led qualifying in the event with a total of 7,557, while Penn State Berks was second with 7,091. William Paterson's Eric Cornog took top individual honors with 1,241.

Maryland Eastern Shore takes two from Prairie View A&M

ARLINGTON, Texas -
In a dual match at the International Training and Research Center, Maryland Eastern Shore swept Prairie View A&M in NCAA competition.

UMES took the opening match 1,063-803 in the five-player team game. The Hawks then defeated Prairie View, 748-671, in a four-game Baker match.
