William Penn, Robert Morris-Illinois take Kegel/ISBPA Collegiate Classic titles
ADDISON, Ill. - William Penn rolled to the men's title while Robert Morris-Illinois claimed the women's title at the Kegel/ISBPA Collegiate Classic held Oct. 22-23 at Stardust Bowl.
William Penn had an 8,410 total in qualifying to top the 25 teams in the men's field. Wichita State was second at 8,379 with Saginaw Valley State qualifying third at 8,307. Rochester Institute of Technology (8,229) and Lindenwood (8,189) rounded out the top five.
In the eight-team knockout rounds, William Penn didn't slow down, posting two-game totals of 466 and 420 to reach the title match. Against Lindenwood, the Statesmen won take the title with a 431-394 victory.
Zachary Wilkins of Urbana led the men's individual competition with a six-game total of 1,366. Wichita State's Geoffrey Young was second at 1,353 followed by Toledo's Scott Santysiak (1,344), Saginaw Valley State's Aaron Lorincz (1,336) and Lindenwood's Daniel Spink (1,325).
Wichita State led the women's qualifying with a 7,946 total, followed by McKendree (7,477) and Lindenwood (7,439). The RMU-Illinois women were fourth at 7,291 with Mildand (7,272) in fifth. In the title match, RMU-Illinois would take down RMU-Peoria in the two-game total pins match, 398-359.
Lindenwood's Laura Fonnegra took individual honors with a 1,286 total for six games. Wichita State teammates Jazreel Tan (1,279) and Allie Ijams (1,254) were second and third, respectively, followed by Amanda Greene (1,212) of Lindenwood and Kristen Keenan (1,200) of Wright State.

Florida Gator Collegiate Shootout
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Webber International rolled through qualifying to earn the top seed and then topped No. 2 qualifier Florida State, 2-1 (177-202, 267- 149, 213-187) to win the Florida Gator Collegiate Shootout held Oct. 22-23 at Alley Katz Lanes. Bethune Cookman swept host Florida, 2-0 (181-162 and 177-172) to take the women's title.

LIMA, Ohio - Pikeville claimed the men's title while host University of Northwestern Ohio took the women's title at the UNOH Racer Classic held Oct. 22-23 at Westgate Lanes and Northland Lanes.

READING, Pa. - Adelphi University posted a 4-1 record and an 8,950 pinfall total to edge Kutztown University for the Kutztown University Team Invitational title.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Norfolk State had a 9,336 pinfall total to top second-place North Carolina Central by more than 300 pins in capturing the Hampton Roads Collegiate Bowling Invitational held Oct. 21-23 at AMF Chesapeake Lanes.

ARLINGTON, Texas - Sam Houston State University topped Stephen F. Austin University in the season-opening matches for both women's teams at the International Training and Research Center on Oct. 22. The matches were broadcast live on BOWL.com.
In The Battle of the Piney Woods, Sam Houston State won the team game 977-887 as sophomore Neishka Cardona had 227 game and junior Michelle Secours contributed a match-high 234 effort. Stephen F. Austin was led by junior Ashlie Rosenkranz with a 216 game.
Sam Houston State started the six-game Baker match with 212 and went on to 1,182-1,067 victory. Sam Houston State starts the season at 2-0, while Stephen F. Austin is 0-2.
