Webber men, McKendree women win first Tier I event


WAUWATOSA, Wis. -
In the first Tier I regular season event of the 2010-11 college bowling season, the Webber International men and McKendree women came away with wins at the 40th annual Midwest Collegiate Tournament in suburban Milwaukee.

The Warriors won the men's division with a total pinfall of 11,462, topping Robert Morris-Illinois, which was second with 11,361. Lindenwood took third with 11,118, while Calumet College was fourth with 11,114.

Chris Bardol of Robert Morris was the high men's individual finisher with a nine-game total of 2,008, an average of 223.1. Grand Valley's Aaron Groendyk finished second with 1,997, while Tyler Herrmen of Rochester Institute of Technology was third at 1,980.

On the women's side, McKendree won the title by 58 pins with a total of 10,459. Lindenwood took second with 10,401 and Midland was third with 1,202. Wright State rounded out the top four with 10,160.

Midland's Erin McCarthy took top individual honors with 1,870, an average of 207.7. Kirsty Belchem of Illinois State was second at 1,855, while Amanda Greene of Lindenwood was third with 1,853.

North Texas, West Texas A&M win SWIBC I Tournament

AMARILLO, Texas -
The University of North Texas men won the SWIBC I Tournament with an 8,551 total. Texas A&M took second with 8,089.

North Texas took the top three positions in the individual standings. Andrew Kirshner was first with a five-game total of 1,060, Robert Wyman was second with 1,059 and Sean Lavery Spahr was third at 1,036.

On the women's side, West Texas A&M took the top spot in the four-team field with 7,794. Hannah Stedman led West Texas A&M with a five-game total of 968 to top the individual standings.
