Delaware bowler kicks off holiday weekend with fireworks at 2021 USBC Open Championships

LAS VEGAS - Tim Foy Jr. of Seaford, Delaware, has had an amazing 2021, including a Professional Bowlers Association Tour television appearance and noteworthy performances at the United States Bowling Congress Masters and prestigious U.S. Open.
Now, he can add a 300 game on the biggest stage in bowling to that growing list, after delivering the 19th perfect game of the 2021 USBC Open Championships.
The 34-year-old two-hander tossed 12 consecutive strikes in the final game of his team event Friday afternoon at the South Point Bowling Plaza to cap a 725 series that began with games of 201 and 224.
"I got the feeling about halfway through that a 300 was possible," said Foy, whose sentiments were echoed by his teammates.
He helped Before the 1st Frame 2 of Battleboro, North Carolina, to games of 967, 987 and 1,124 for a 3,078 total, which is tied for 125th place this year in Regular Team, following a memorable performance from another part of their three-team group.
Foy was joined on the lanes Friday by Katie Garcia (672), Jeff Himes (575), Graham Ready (567) and Jeff Beasley (539).
"After the second game, Tim was in a zone," added Garcia. "At the halfway point of the final game, the whole team knew he could do it, and Tim totally came through."
On the following squad, Before the 1st Frame 1 surged to the top of the Regular Team standings with 3,400.
In April 2021, at the USBC Masters in Reno, Nevada, Foy took advantage of an opportunity to show the world the type of player he is by sending reigning PBA Player of the Year and four-time Masters champion, Jason Belmonte of Australia, to the elimination bracket in the first round.
Foy went on to finish tied for 13th at the Masters and ended the trip to the National Bowling Stadium in Reno with a top-24 finish at the U.S. Open.
Earlier in the year, Foy was featured on national television in the East Region Finals of the PBA Players Championship, where he finished fifth, losing to Chris Via in the opening match, 300-235.
"What I have accomplished this year has my confidence level running high," Foy said. "That confidence continued into this weekend."
