SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Qualifying is complete at the 2011 USBC Queens, and the match-play field is set, with USBC Hall of Famer Carolyn Dorin-Ballard of Keller, Texas, in the top spot for the second consecutive year.

The 2001 Queens champion posted a 1,043 score in her final five-game block to finish with a 3,305 total for 15 games at the Oncenter Convention Center. Left-hander Shannon Pluhowsky of Kettering, Ohio, the 2006 Queens winner, finished second with 3,294, and three-time Queens champion Wendy Macpherson of Henderson, Nev., is third with 3,283.

Leanne Hulsenberg of Roseville, Calif., who won the Queens in 1999, made the biggest move of the day, jumping from 35th to sixth with a 1,229 set, which included a 299 game. Defending champion Kelly Kulick of Union, N.J., qualified 24th with 3,093.

"I didn't feel well last night and didn't get much sleep, so my goal today was just to keep my same feel and not press too much," said Dorin-Ballard, who finished sixth at the Queens last year in El Paso, Texas. "I tried some different balls to see what kind of look I had, and we'll see what happens. At this tournament, because of the format, you just never know. It's three-game matches, and anything can happen, so you have to be strong from the start."

The top 64 competitors now will begin the double-elimination match-play format, which begins at 1:30 p.m. EDT and will be live streamed on BOWL.com. Each match will consist of a three-game set, with total pinfall determining who advances.

The last spot in match play went to Margie Chetney of Baldwinsville, N.Y., who finished in 64th with 2,915.

The championship round will be televised live on ESPN2 on Wednesday, April 27 at 7 p.m. EDT.

USBC Hall of Famer Dana Miller-Mackie of Albuquerque, N.M., was extremely ill during the second round of qualifying at the USBC Senior Queens, but battled back to take the lead after three rounds Monday.

Miller-Mackie finished with a 3,278 total for 15 games to edge out second-round leader Patti Schultz of Braidwood, Ill., by two pins (3,276), while first-round leader and first-time Senior Queens participant Cynthia Johnson of Bowie, Md., finished third with 3,218. Defending champion Char Hammel of Las Vegas qualified 26th with 2,936.

The top 32 finishers now will enter the double-elimination match-play format. The final spot in match play went to Debra Sinek of Odenton, Md., with 2,898.

The championship round will be televised live on ESPN2 on Wednesday, April 27 at 7 p.m. EDT.

The Senior Queens finals will be broadcast live on BOWL.com on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Eastern.
