Dorin-Ballard named USBC Director of Coaching
USBC Hall of Famer Carolyn Dorin-Ballard of Keller, Texas, enjoyed a long and successful career on the bowling lanes and now will bring her experience and knowledge to the organization as the USBC Director of Coaching.
A USBC Board member and four-time Team USA member, Dorin-Ballard will shift roles and start in her new position March 1.
The 46-year-old USBC Silver coach most recently served as a member of Brunswick's professional teaching staff, and her three decades of competitive bowling and coaching experience give her a well-rounded viewpoint at the helm of USBC's coaching initiatives.
"Carolyn has experience and success at all levels and aspects of the sport, so she's the perfect person to facilitate the growth of the USBC Coaching program," said Neil Stremmel, USBC Managing Director- National Governing Body. "She is a proven champion and well-respected within the industry, and we know she also will excel in her new role."
On the lanes, Dorin-Ballard has earned more than 20 professional titles, including three majors, nine international medals, five titles at the USBC Women's Championships and two collegiate national championships, along with countless other awards and honors.
As the Director of Coaching, Dorin-Ballard will oversee the USBC coaching staff, be responsible for maintaining the recently-launched Coaching Re-certification program, implementing the accompanying Continuing Education program and working with the Youth Education Services (YES) Fund program. She also will focus on establishing regional training sites and coaches as well as grass roots coaching clinics across the United States.
"Coaching is something I have been involved in my whole career," said Dorin-Ballard, who has been actively coaching for 15 years. "I'm very excited for the opportunity, and I plan to bring some new ideas to the USBC Coaching department."
