RENO, Nev. –
At the United States Bowling Congress Open Championships, few groups can match the star and striking power annually delivered by the crew representing Before the 1st Frame.

This week during their appearance at the National Bowling Stadium for the 2026 event, two more honor scores were added to the group’s collection as Chris Hans of Battleboro, North Carolina, and Mike Conn of Jonesboro, Arkansas, connected for perfect games.

Hans – a 2021 Regular Team champion at the USBC Open Championships – recorded his 300 during the final game of his team event Tuesday at the NBS. Conn – a Regular Team champion from the 2024 event – went 12 for 12 in his second game of singles Wednesday in Reno.

A total of 40 300 games have been rolled at the 2026 Open Championships.

Hans started his team set with games of 211 and 184 before his perfect finish, posting a 695 series to help Before the 1st Frame 2021 to a 3,144 total in the Regular Division.

The 52-year-old right-hander continued strong into doubles and singles Wednesday, combining for a 1,404 total in Regular Doubles with his teammate from the 2021 victory and 12-time Professional Bowlers Association Tour champion Kyle Troup before making a second run at 300 during singles.

After a 200 start, Hans fired eight strikes to start his second game before a 10 pin stood in the ninth frame. He closed with 267 and 222 for a 689 series, and with 656 in doubles, finished his 25th appearance at the Open Championships with an all-events score of 2,040.
