El Paso among safest cities in the United States

With the start of the 2010 USBC Women's Championships just days away, the USBC and El Paso Convention and Visitors Bureau want to remind bowlers that El Paso, Texas, is ranked among the safest cities in the United States.

The latest safety release by CQ Press, a research company known as a national source of impartial state and city ranking information, shows El Paso as the second safest U.S. city with a population of 500,000 or more. This has been an on-going trend for El Paso, which has found itself ranked either second or third in the annual report every year since 2004.

"El Paso has been chosen one of America's safest cities for the sixth consecutive year," said Bill Blaziek, General Manager of the El Paso Convention and Visitors Bureau, "Which means visitors to El Paso can expect to enjoy attractions, shopping, dining and culture in a safe and friendly environment."

More than 35,000 women bowlers are expected to make the trip to El Paso to compete at the 2010 Women's Championships, which will be held at the El Paso Convention and Performing Arts Center from March 27 until July 4. Tournament entries are being accepted through April 1.

El Paso, and the tournament venue, also will play host to the USBC Queens, Senior Queens and Intercollegiate Team Championships.
