ESPN2 to show 2011 ITC title matches

The crowning of team champions in college bowling can be seen Sunday at 5 p.m. Eastern when ESPN2 broadcasts the title matches of the 2011 Intercollegiate Team Championships.

Sunday's broadcast marks the 10th consecutive year the championships matches of the ITC have been televised. The title matches in both the men's and women's divisions, originally scheduled to air at an earlier time, were taped in late April at AMF Peach Lanes in Columbus, Ga.

Dave LaMont will handle play-by-play duties with Team USA and PBA standout Chris Barnes providing color commentary on the broadcast. Former Team USA member Emily Maier will report from laneside.

The men's final pits Fresno State against Webber International, the top-ranked team in the country. Webber won four titles during the season and has made the ITC field each of the program's three seasons. Fresno State made its 10th consecutive appearance this year and was runner-up for the men's ITC title in 2005.

Maryland Eastern Shore, which already has captured the 2011 NCAA Women's Bowling title, will face Lindenwood in the women's title match. Lindenwood won the women's ITC title in 2006.

A total of 32 teams - 16 men's and 16 women's teams - qualified for the ITC through four sectional tournaments. At the national tournament, the teams competed in best-of-seven, double-elimination match play using the Baker format to determine the finalists for the championships round, which was best-of-three.

The television show was made possible through the efforts of bowling industry partners. The USBC, Bowling Proprietors' Association of America, Professional Bowlers Association, Strike Ten Entertainment, The Bowling Foundation and the YES Fund each contributed to help broadcast college bowling's premier event. The YES Fund, a joint initiative of the BPAA and the USBC, is made possible by many of the leading brands in bowling including Brunswick, Columbia 300, Ebonite, 900 Global, Hammer, QubicaAMF, Roto Grip, Storm and Track.
