Finland's Lampo Sets the Pace

It was a fair tussle for honors between Stuart Williams of England, Chris Klerk of the United States and Denmark's Frederik
Ohrgaard going into the last of the four games for those finishing qualifying in 25th to 42nd places.
That is until 'shining light' Sami Lampo of Finland decided to spoil the party by firing eight straight strikes in his home straight, finishing with 1597 points after bringing forward 664 from 50 per cent of qualifying pinfall.
That gave Lampo, from some unprounceable town in his home country ("Just say I come from Finland"), an eight-point buffer over Williams and leaving Ohrgaard and Klerk in third and fourth places respectively.
Action now switches to those who qualified 1 - 24, heading across Bowling Pedralbes for four games, again bringing forward 50 per cent of qualifying pinfall.
The scores of these two squads are combined and the leading 24 will advance to the semi-finals for four games, the leading three to contest the one-game stepladder final, screened live on Eurosport 2 and local TV3 at 18.15 CET. Also web streamed on internet: www.fcbb.cat at 18.15.
