Focus shifts to Southern Indiana at halfway point of 2024 PWBA Tour season

CLARKSVILLE, Ind. – After a week in Smyrna, Tennessee, the Professional Women’s Bowling Association Tour has a quick turnaround as the PWBA Southern Indiana Open at Blackston Bowl in Clarksville, Indiana, starts Thursday June 6 with a pre-tournament qualifier at 8 a.m. Eastern.
Those in the PTQ will bowl six games to fill the tournament proper, where the top 13 in the PTQ will advance. The official practice session will begin at 2 p.m. Eastern for all in the main field.
Later at 6 p.m. Eastern, there will be a Bowl with the Pros event, where the local bowling community can bowl alongside some of their favorite PWBA bowlers in a fun and exciting environment.
Tournament competition starts Friday at 10 a.m. Eastern with the first of two six-game qualifying blocks. At the end of Friday’s 12 games of competition, a cut will be made to the top third of the field.
Bowlers who make the first cut will return to Blackiston Bowl on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Eastern for a third six-game block. Cuts will be made after that round as well, this time to the top 12.
Those 12 players will compete in the fourth and final qualifying block, which will take place Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Eastern. At the end of that round, the top five bowlers will advance to the stepladder finals, which are scheduled to begin Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. Eastern and determine the winner of the PWBA Southern Indiana Open. All rounds of qualifying and the stepladder finals will be streamed live only on BowlTV.
This will be the first time that the PWBA Tour will have ever visited Blackiston Bowl, which sits right on the border of Indiana and Kentucky.
The Player of the Year race still has no clear frontrunner through six events of the season, as Shannon Pluhowsky of Dayton, Ohio, and Malaysia’s Sin Li Jane both have two titles this season after both collected wins in Smyrna. Singapore’s Cherie Tan has thrown herself into the mix however, as she won the PWBA BowlTV Classic and had top-three finishes in all three Classic Series events.
