Kevin Foley of Reno, Nev., defeated Walter Ray Williams Jr. of Ocala, Fla., by 83 pins to win the Professional Bowlers Association Central/Midwest Region’s Gerdeman Insurance Senior Classic presented by Brunswick at Al-Mar Lanes Thursday.

The tournament featured a unique progressive pinfall format wherein the tournament leaders continued to accumulate pins, but the field was cut in half after each round. After the first eight games, the top 32 players advanced to a four-game Round of 32. The field was then trimmed to 16. After three more games, eight players advance to a two-game Round of 8. The top four then bowled an 18th game to determine the final standings.

After 18 games, Foley compiled a total of 4,553 pins, easily holding onto the 114-pin cushion he held over Williams heading into the final game. Foley earned $4,000 along with his first PBA Regional title. Williams, who finished with 4,470 pins, earned $2,200 for second place.

The next PBA Central Region event will be the Boss Snow Plows/Track Open in Fishers, Ind., Aug. 10-11.
