Friendships play key role for new leaders at 2025 USBC Women's Championships

LAS VEGAS – The excitement continues at the 2025 United States Bowling Congress Women’s Championships in Las Vegas, as scores are soared to a new high in the Ruby Division at the South Point Bowling Plaza.

In Ruby Doubles, Teryl Gade of Littleton, Colorado, and Tammy Bellofatto of Lakewood, Colorado, shot high scores to take the lead with an impressive series of 1,354. The two Colorado bowlers ended doubles with games of 425, 536 and 393 to secure that lead.

Bellofatto had individual games of 226, 256 and 209 during the performance to finish with a 691 series. Gade had 199, 280 and 184 for 663.

Gade is also the current leader in Emerald All-Events with a 1,689 total. She also had 523 in singles and 503 in team.

For each bowler, getting to experience the Women’s Championships was an exciting feeling to have, especially when it’s with a friend.

“We’ve been bowling together for about six years, and five years (at the Women’s Championship),” said Bellofatto.

Communication is key when it comes to the Women’s Championships, and in doubles, it helps a lot when you're counting on your partner. Seeing the scores starting to rise brings a moment of excitement between each bowler, because the communication is paying off.

“I was so proud of her (Gade) as she shot 280 in her second game and beat my 250,” Bellofatto said with a laugh. “We were just thinking we have to make good shots and to follow through with the ball.”

Having the tournament in Las Vegas also gives them a variety of fun activities to do during their stay for the tournament.

“We always go to The Mob Museum, and we did the Superman zipline over Fremont (Street),” said Bellofatto.

Winning a title is always an exciting thing to think of when placing at the top of the leaderboard. It’s a moment showing all their hard work has truly paid off in the end, and they can potentially show it off with a gemstone trophy when all is said and done.

“I think it would be amazing,” said Bellofatto. “We won at Greater Denver USBC Senior Women’s in team, and it would be great to win a national title with her.”
