Gold-medal matches set for team event at Worlds

HENDERSON, Nev. - The Team USA men and women will have the opportunity to defend their team titles after both survived with semifinal wins Thursday at the 2013 World Tenpin Bowling Association World Championships.
The Team USA men took down Denmark, 1,050-973, and will face Finland, which defeated Korea 1,101-976, in the gold-medal match on Friday at Sunset Station's Strike Zone Bowling Center.
The men's gold-medal match will be a rematch of the final at the last World Men's Championships, when Team USA defeated Finland in the final frame to win a dramatic match.
On the women's side, Team USA advanced with a 1,014-921 victory over Venezuela in the semifinals, while Korea defeated Malaysia, 1,065-966. Korea and the United States will meet for the gold medal on Friday as well.
The medal round for the men's and women's Masters competition was also determined Thursday and the field was dominated by the Korean team. The top four bowlers in each division advanced to the semifinals.
On the women's side, Korea's Kim Moon-Jeong earned the top seed, while Team USA's Liz Johnson was second. Korea's Son Yun-Hee and Ryu Seo-Yeon earned the third and fourth seeds, respectively.
For the men, Team USA's Chris Barnes earned the top seed and was followed by Korean's Cho Young-Seon, Shin Seung-Hyeon and Kim Jun-Yung.
