Indiana bowler scores high in Diamond Singles at 2025 USBC Women's Championships
April 29, 2025

LAS VEGAS – The Diamond Division is back at it again with another high score in singles at the 2025 United States Bowling Congress Women’s Championships on Monday afternoon.
In Diamond Singles, Taylor Ellison of Lafayette, Indiana, rolled games of 260, 276 and 236 for a series of 772 to hold an early lead in the division. The lead was previously held by Bryanna Coté of Marana, Arizona, with a 750 series.
Getting toward that score wasn’t too out of sight for Ellison, but she still had to put in a big effort in moving from team. Going into singles, she knew that she had to put her skills into high gear.
“I had a pretty good look yesterday in team, and I came in today with the same plan,” said Ellison. “I played right up the track, and I just knew I had to keep it in the pocket, hit my mark and hope to strike and carry.”
Scoring high is a different feeling for bowlers at the Championships because it's at a higher level than most are accustomed to. This type of emotion is exactly what Ellison was going through as she finished her singles set.
“I didn’t expect to do that, but I am very grateful to do that,” said Ellison.
As she inched closer to the top score, Ellison really honed into how she was bowling to make a few changes in the last few games.
“During the last game I kind of lost a little bit of carry, I think it was more nerves because I knew (what the leading score was),” said Ellison. “I took a breath, relaxed and just told myself to make good shots.”
Now finishing up the tournament, Ellison is at the top of Diamond Singles, ecstatic to hear the news that there’s a possibility of staying toward the end.
“It would be crazy,” said Ellison. “I had a really good practice Thursday with a local coach back at home, so I felt really confident coming in today. I was just hoping for good scores, and I am glad it happened today.”
