Junior Team USA Member Earns Recognition in Sports Illustrated

ARLINGTON, Texas - Junior Team USA member Christine Bator is being recognized by Sports Illustrated magazine for her recent accomplishments at the 2009 Pan American Bowling Confederation Youth Championships.

Bator, of Warren, Mich., appears in the Faces in the Crowd section of the Aug. 10 edition of the magazine. She won five gold medals and a silver medal at the championships that were held July 6-11 in Bogota, Colombia.

"It isn't often that a bowler gets recognized by Sports Illustrated, so I am pretty excited," said Bator, a sophomore at Macomb Community College. "It's definitely an honor, and one I am proud to share with my teammates who were on the lanes with me in Bogota."

Bator won gold medals in singles, doubles (with Brittni Hamilton), trios (with Jenn Boisselle and Kristie Petravich), and team, where Junior Team USA topped Canada by nearly 150 pins.

She also claimed the all-events title, beating Petravich by 137 pins. Bator took silver in Masters, losing to Petravich in the finals.
