Kansas bowler rolls perfect game at 2024 USBC Open Championships

LAS VEGAS – Rylind Griffin of Olathe, Kansas, may have taken a game to settle into his doubles set Friday at the 2024 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships, but he was tough to stop once he started striking at the South Point Bowling Plaza.

The 40-year-old right-hander finished his series with strikes on 18 of his final 19 deliveries, and he recorded the 22nd perfect game of the 2024 event in Game 3.

He had started the day with 147 in Game 1 before finding the right look in the back half of Game 2, finishing with 219. He posted a 666 series in doubles and paired with Matthew Bundi of Overland Park, Kansas, for a 1,246 total in Regular Doubles.

Griffin continued striking in singles, working his way to a 672 series. He added 573 in team for a 1,911 all-events score.

He set personal bests at the USBC Open Championships during his performance this week, too. Griffin returned to the tournament for the first time since 2011 to make his seventh appearance and posted the two highest sets of his career in singles and doubles to go along with his top nine-game total at the event.

The 2024 Open Championships got underway Feb. 23 and will run through July 29 at the South Point Bowling Plaza. The tournament is scheduled to feature more than 11,000 teams and 55,000 bowlers making their way to compete in Las Vegas.
