Kelly Bednar Named Director of IBPSIA

ARLINGTON, Texas - Bowling industry veteran Kelly Bednar has been named managing director for the International Bowling Pro Shop and Instructors Association (IBPSIA), according to the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA) who manages the organization. Bednar, Director of Youth and Education for BPAA, and Skills Center Director for Strike Ten Entertainment (STE) replaces Bill Supper, who was tapped to become executive director of the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame. Both job changes take effect September 1, 2009.
IBPSIA president Del Warren says Bednar is the perfect choice for the position. "When asked who I thought would be the logical replacement, Kelly's name was at the top of my short list." Warren added, "Kelly has shown that he has the passion and experience to help the IBPSIA organization grow while staying on the new path and vision".
Bednar is a charter member of IBPSIA and served as a board member from 1996-99. During his bowling career he has co-owned and managed pro shops as well as created and implemented bowler development programs. He is a United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Bronze and Silver Level Master Coach Instructor and was a guest coach for Team USA in 2004. He is Hands On Training certified and is a HOTS master instructor He is a writer, contributing articles for Pro Shop Today, Bowling This Month and Bowlers Journal International. He was recognized as USBC/USOC Bowling Development Coach of the Year in 2005.
Bednar, who will continue his duties with BPAA and STE as he has since 2007, says he's ready to wear another hat and continue the job started by Bill Supper three years ago. "I look forward to the opportunity to help IBPSIA and its members achieve their goals," says Bednar. "Having Bill still in the building and with IBPSIA administrative assistant Ginny Linton's help, along with the rest of the BPAA support staff remaining in place, is a recipe for a smooth transition."
