Macpherson named BWAA Bowler of the Month
ARLINGTON, Texas - Wendy Macpherson of Henderson, Nevada, has been named the November 2010 Kegel Bowler of the Month by the Bowling Writers Association of America.
Macpherson defeated Mika Sato, Japan, 300-235, for the women's title of the 34th ABS Japan Open, becoming the second woman to roll a televised perfect game in Japanese Professional Bowlers Association (JPBA) history. The effort earned her a 10,000,000 Yen (US $121,000) bonus and the 3,000,000 Yen (US $36,000) first place prize. The win is Macpherson's third JPBA title this year and eighth overall.
The three-woman stepladder started with second seed Sato defeating third seed Himeji Urara, the 2009 JPBA Player of the Year, 224-212, to advance to the title match.
Macpherson closely edged Bill O'Neill, Southampton, Pa., the top seed for January's PBA World Championship. Others receiving votes were Scott Norton, winner of the PBA Chameleon Championship, Eugene McCune, winner of the Brunswick Pro Bowling Cheetah Championship and Osku Palermaa, winner of the PBA Geico Shark Championship.
