Lincoln, Neb., to host ITC in '12, '13

ARLINGTON, Texas - The top collegiate programs in the country will battle for national titles when the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Championships are contested in 2012 and 2013 at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, Neb.

The ITC is the pinnacle tournament of the collegiate season, bringing together the top 16 men's and top 16 women's teams to compete for a national title. Four sectional qualifying tournaments determine the field for the ITC.

"There are so many factors that make Lincoln an excellent site for this event," USBC Collegiate Manager Gary Brown said. "Lincoln has a very active local bowling association, we are receiving strong support from the community and the city's location in the central part of the United States provides easy access for all our teams."

The Lincoln USBC Bowling Association and the Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau worked together in securing the winning bid. In 2012, the ITC will be contested from April 18-21, while the 2013 event is scheduled to take place April 17-20.

"This is such a great event and the enthusiasm of the participants and spectators is second to none," said Lincoln USBC Association Manager Kevin Dunkle, who also serves as the host committee chair. "All entities in this venture will work to make this an enjoyable and exciting trip to Lincoln. We can't wait for this to happen in Lincoln."

The ITC, previously the Intercollegiate Bowling Championships, was first contested in 1975 in Dayton, Ohio. In 2011, the tournament will be held in Columbus, Ga., from April 21-23.
