NYS USBC Associations offer $27,000 in scholarships
December 09, 2010
New York State's three United States Bowling Congress associations are offering $27,000 in scholarships and also have developed a user-friendly online application that students can use to apply for college scholarships for the 2010-11 season and beyond.
The New York State USBC Joint Scholarship Committee worked to develop the online scholarship application, said Frank Wilkinson, Empire State USBC Bowling Association President.
"Leaders from all three state associations - the Empire State USBC, New York State USBC Women's Bowling Association and New York State USBC Youth Association - have been instrumental in making this happen," Wilkinson said.
Students who hold USBC Youth memberships in the state can access the online application from the Empire State USBC's website (www.bowlny.com) or from the NYSUSBCWBA website (www.nysusbcwba.com).
For 2010-11, the three state associations have 18 scholarships available that are worth $27,000. The deadline to apply is Feb. 1, 2011.
Wilkinson said the process has been simplified so the online form is the only application necessary to apply for any of the state association scholarships. Applicants also are required to download and print two forms - a School Official/Counselor's Evaluation and Data Sheet and a Youth Official Evaluation Sheet. The two forms and a letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor or coach should be mailed to the address indicated on the forms.

New York State USBC Women's Bowling Association - (Awarded to females)
Empire State USBC Bowling Association - (Awarded to males or females)
New York State USBC Youth Association - (Awarded to males or females)
