On the Lanes with Jennifer Higgins
April 24, 2011
In the coming months, we'll talk with some of the best-known bowlers at the USBC Open Championships and get their thoughts on their time at the tournament and what it takes to succeed on the championship lanes.
This week, we heard from former Team USA member Jennifer Higgins (Petrick), who made her way to the National Bowling Stadium to compete at the Open Championships earlier this month.
The 29-year-old right-hander is a two-time Team USA member (2002, 2005), and a four-time member of Junior Team USA (2001-04). She won two gold and two silver medals at the 2004 World Tenpin Bowling Association World Youth Championships and one gold medal and one silver medal at the 2005 Pan American Bowling Confederation Women's Championships.
On April 8, just hours before hitting the tournament lanes for her team event, Higgins and her now husband, Dan Higgins Jr., were married in The Biggest Little City in the World.
This year on the lanes, Higgins shot 668 in singles, 628 in doubles and 553 in team for a 1,846 all-events total.
