On the Lanes with Jonathan Schalow

In the coming months, we'll talk with some of the best-known bowlers at the USBC Open Championships and get their thoughts on their time at the tournament and what it takes to succeed on the championship lanes.

This week, we heard from Jonathan Schalow, who is second on the tournament's two-year average list at 238.61. Left-hander Brett Wolfe tops the list with 244.

Schalow, who bowled collegiately at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, found instant success at the Open Championships with a 299 game and 807 series in doubles at the 2009 event in Las Vegas. He and Chad Svendsen went on to finish fifth in Regular Doubles with a 1,458 total, while Schalow finished 18th in Regular All-Events with 2,122.

In 2010, the 24-year-old right-hander picked up right where he left off and turned in an even stronger performance. He collected two more top 10 finishes as he led his team to a third-place effort on the way to eighth-place in Regular All-Events with a 2,173 total.

Schalow and his teammates will return to the lanes at the National Bowling Stadium on June 18 and 19.
