On the Lanes with Lynda Barnes

In the coming months, we'll talk with some of the best-known bowlers at the USBC Open Championships and get their thoughts on their time at the tournament and what it takes to succeed on the championship lanes.

This week, we heard from former Team USA star Lynda Barnes, who made her way to the National Bowling Stadium to compete on April 8-9.

The 43-year-old right-hander made 12 appearances on Team USA from 1989-2009, and during that time, she collected two dozen medals in international competition, including eight in three trips to the World Tenpin Bowling Association World Women's Championships. She also brought home the QubicaAMF World Cup in 2005.

Stateside, she is a three-time Team USA Trials winner and a two-time champion at the USBC Queens. Her 2008 Queens victory earned her a spot at the 2008 Bowling's Clash of Champions, which she also won.

A member of the World Bowling Writers Hall of Fame, Barnes owns three titles at the USBC Women's Championships, but still is in search of similar success at the Open Championships.

This year on the tournament lanes, she shot 636 in doubles, 567 in singles and 565 in team for a 1,768 all-events total. In eight Open Championships appearances, she is averaging 204.8.
