Padilla wins singles at 2011 TOA

ARLINGTON, Texas - Team USA's Brenda Padilla captured the singles title at the 49th Annual Lee Evans Tournament of the Americas, one of five United States competitors to claim a gold medal on Tuesday.
Singles was the first event in the week-long competition at Sawgrass Lanes in Tamarac, Fla. The tournament features Adult, Senior (ages 50-plus for men, 45-plus for women), Super Senior (ages 60-plus for men, 55-plus for women), Junior A (ages 16-19) and Junior B (ages 12-15) divisions.
Padilla, of Mansfield, Texas, had a 2,529 total for the 12 games to capture the Adult Women division in singles. Karen Marcano of Venezuela was second and Team USA member Tennelle Milligan of Arlington, Texas, took third.
The other division winners for the United States in singles were: Jessica Earnest, Vandalia, Ill. (Junior Female A); Makayla Douglas, Vancouver, Wash. (Junior Female B), Carol Teel, The Villages, Fla. (Super Senior Female); Jerry Teel, The Villages, Fla. (Super Senior Male).

The Lee Evans Tournament of The Americas is the oldest annual international tournament in the American Zone and the United States has 20 competitors at the tournament, including members of Team USA and Junior Team USA. The invitational competition is for countries of PABCON (Pan American Bowling Confederation - the American Zone of World Tenpin Bowling Association).
In each division, one team comprised of two men and two women compete in singles, doubles, mixed doubles and team event throughout the week-long tournament. After 36 games, individual all-events and national all-events champions are recognized.
