Pappas wins PBA East Region title

PappasInsideHowell, N.J. – George Pappas of Charlotte, N.C., defeated Richard Bucey of Forest Hill, Md., 224-220, to win the Professional Bowlers Association East Region Howell Lanes Senior Open at Howell Lanes Sunday.

The win was PBA Hall of Famer’s 23rd regional title and his first since 2009. Pappas, at age 64, has now won PBA titles in five decades. The victory was worth $1,500. Bucey earned $925 as the runner-up.

Pappas defeated defending champion and fellow PBA Hall of Famer Johnny Petraglia of Jackson, N.J., 223-193, and Bucey defeated Mike Tryniski of Fulton, N.Y., 213-179, in the semifinal round.

Petraglia and Tryniski each earned $750 as semifinal round losers.
