Petraglia, Boresch lead doubles at World Senior Championships

United States Bowling Congress Hall of Famers Johnny Petraglia and Lennie Boresch Jr. cruised into the lead after the opening round of qualifying in men's doubles Wednesday at the 2015 World Bowling Senior Championships.

The duo finished their six-game qualifying block with a combined effort of 2,656 at Sam's Town Bowling Center, more than 200 pins ahead of the rest of the field. Petraglia led the way with a 1,333 series, while Boresch had 1,323.

Mexico's Manuel Garcia and Alejandro Sanchez are in second with 2,446, while Australia's Warren Stewart and Andrew Frawley (2,443) and Germany's Holger Ohlrogge and Frank-Peter Frey (2,440) sit in third and fourth, respectively.

The other half of the men's field will take to the lanes Thursday starting at 11:30 a.m. Eastern. The top four scores at the end of qualifying will advance to the medal round.

The World Bowling Senior Championships features more than 200 male and female participants age 50 and older from 33 countries vying for medals in singles, doubles, team, all-events and Masters competition.
