Plan That Would Have 'Merged' Centers Falls Apart

A plan that would have moved one Denver area bowling center into another, which we reported on in February (/?p=9912), has fallen apart.
Just days before Elitch Lanes, which had been forced to close due to redevelopment in its neighborhood, was preparing to move into nearby Western Bowl and institute the Elitch name, Western proprietor Bruce Rahmani pulled the plug.
“We decided really there was no reason to change the name,” Rahmani told the Denver Post. “My customers would be unhappy if I did that.”
The 11th-hour change of heart forced Elitch Lanes owner Cal Eichinger to immediately begin a liquidation sale.
