PWBA STARS TO PARTICIPATE IN RALLY IN THE ALLEY CELEBRITY BOWLING EVENT AT RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Professional Women’s Bowling Association (PWBA) will be center stage during Richmond International Raceway’s September race week with the Smithfield PWBA Tour Championship taking place at the track complex and the PWBA players taking part in a charity bowling event with NASCAR and other celebrities.

The Rally in the Alley, a pro-celebrity bowling tournament, will take place at the historic Old Dominion Building at the Richmond Raceway Complex on Sept. 7. The Barton Malow Foundation, Richmond Flying Squirrels Charities, and RIR Cares are partnering for the third annual charity event to support RVA Field of Dreams Fest.

Rally in the Alley will conclude a week of bowling as the Smithfield PWBA Tour Championship will take place Sept. 3-6 inside the Old Dominion Building at the Richmond Raceway Complex. QubicaAMF, whose U.S. headquarters are in Richmond, will build four state-of-the-art lanes inside the Old Dominion Building for the events that are part of Richmond’s fall NASCAR race week festivities.

Rally in the Alley will have eight teams with each team having a NASCAR celebrity, Flying Squirrel or local Richmond personality, a PWBA pro bowler, and two other members. Teams will bowl two rounds – each team member will bowl two frames to see if they have what it takes to get a strike – with 15-minute breaks between rounds. Pro-celebrity participants will be announced at a later date.

Tickets for the Smithfield PWBA Tour Championship are $25 for three days of access on Sept. 4-6. Daily tickets for the PWBA Tour Championship are $20 for Sept. 6, when the finals are televised live on CBS Sports Network, while Sessions 1 and 2 on Sept. 4-5 are $10 per event. Tickets are available at the Richmond box office, via phone at 866-455-7223 and online at rir.com.

“We look forward to a great week of bowling competition and fun,” said Kelly Kulick, PWBA Tour spokesperson and a top player on the PWBA Tour. “Bowling centers across the country serve as a hub for fundraisers throughout the year so it’s a natural fit for us to be involved in a charity event during the Smithfield PWBA Tour Championship.”

Proceeds from Rally in the Alley will go to the initiative of “Renovating Richmond’s Recreation.” The Barton Malow Foundation, Flying Squirrels Charities, and RIR Cares partnered three years ago in an effort to revitalize Richmond’s inner-city youth baseball facilities. Through this partnership, the three organizations have built new dugouts for Blackwell and Bellemeade Fields. Blackwell Field also received a new infield. RVA Field of Dreams Fest has hopes for future projects at ten local Richmond fields.

In addition to helping renovate baseball facilities, RVA Field of Dreams Fest also assists with workforce development opportunities for students through the Henrico County Vocational/Technical Education Foundation. VIP tickets for Rally in the Alley with access to the VIP lounge, meet and greet with pro-celebrity attendees, hors d'oeuvres, and premium drink tickets are $100. General admission tickets will go on sale at a later date. VIP tickets for Rally in the Alley to support RVA Field of Dreams Fest are available at the Richmond box office, via phone at 866-455-7223 and online at rir.com.
