Retro Roll: 1989 USBC Queens

This week's Retro Roll takes a look at 2011 USBC Hall of Fame selection Carol Gianotti as she goes after her first major against Sandra Jo Shiery in the 1989 USBC Queens. Gianotti would go on to finish fourth at the Queens in 1992, 1997 and 2008. Her storied career also includes 16 women's professional titles and three team titles at the World Tenpin Bowling Association Women's World Championships to add to her scratch doubles title in 2010. Overall, she owns a total of 11 top 10 finishes at the USBC Women's Championships and has won nearly $1 million in career earnings.

In 1989, the first chapter of her legendary career had hardly been written yet when she found herself in position to win a major championship.
