Retro Roll: 1998 U.S. Women's Open
June 03, 2011
With the 2011 U.S. Women's Open just weeks away, we take a look back at the clash of legends that occurred at the 1998 event, when Aleta Sill chased down her second U.S. Women's Open title to go along with two USBC Queens titles.
Though Sill was inducted into the USBC Hall of Fame in 1996, she still had plenty of game left and proved it with her dazzling performance in this title match. Her opponent, Tammy Turner, would go on to avenge the loss 11 years later, when she won the 2009 U.S. Women's Open in convincing fashion as well, defeating Carolyn Dorin-Ballard with a 269-225 win.
