Core Design: The new Infinite Theory houses the same asymmetric design used in the solid reactive Theory. The RG is low at 2.49, the Diff strong at .058 and the mass bias medium at .013. We saw nearly 6.5” of track flare with the 3 and 4” pin distance layouts.

Coverstock: The hybrid formula of the Insight cover family is colored in a mix of black solids combined with red and silver pearls. Response time off friction areas is both quick and decisive with the box 1500 grit-polished surface. Oil traction is also slightly above average, even polished.

Manufacturer’s Intent: Hank Boomershine, Storm VP of Sales and Marketing, explained the benefits of this new Theory extension: “It has expanded surface roughness, more energy transfer due to the new outer core, easier length through the fronts and a consistent ball motion from the Triliptic core.”

Test Results: Having loved the strong midlane motion and pin carry offered by the original Solid Theory, this hybrid version intrigued us. Hybrid covers can often reward bowlers with the best attributes of solid and pearl coverstocks, one of which is added length through lesser oil volumes, coupled with a quicker, more angular move when leaving the oil. The Infinite Theory was 2 to 3’ longer and more angular than the solid Theory on every medium to heavier test pattern we encountered. Total hook was slightly less in the oil, yet was always stronger off friction. When dulled to the same surface of the Theory solid, both balls were much closer in total hook and overall motion. My test staff loved the strength, readability and pin carry offered by both Theories... on the appropriate oil volume.

When to Use: Due to the aggressive nature of the “I.T.” ball, speed-dominant players, or those not blessed with a high rev rate, will enjoy this ball’s ability to cover real estate and make the corner from any angle. Sport patterns offered little challenge as the I.T. can create any motion desired if the bowler is open-minded about surface adjustments, if needed. This ball wowed us with great reactions with 3, 4 or 5” layouts; each had its own distinct roll in the backend.
