Saginaw Valley Men Secure First Place at American Heartland I

Saginaw Valley State's A-team took control early and never let go while winning the American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference I event at Beaver-Vu Lanes in Dayton, Ohio, Sept. 26.

The Cardinals put up the tournament's three highest team scores - 1,109, 1,081 and 1,054 - and remained solid during Baker play to put up the winning total of 8,715, which put them well ahead of the second-place effort authored by Davenport-A (8,366). Saginaw Valley State-B (8,252), Wright State-Gold (8,196) and Wright State-Green (8,017) secured the remaining spots in the top five.

Davenport's Nick Sutherland won the individual crown, putting up scores of 254, 167, 244, 227 and 254 to set the pace at 1,146, which was good for a 229.20 average. Saginaw's Jordan Vanover finished second (1,074), leaving Wright State's Jay Foote (1,071), Saginaw's Mike Snow (1,069) and Robert Morris's Joshua Ross (1,051) to settle for third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
