San Jose State men, Wichita State women win at Collegiate Shoot-Out

The San Jose State men and Wichita State women swept the collegiate events in Las Vegas this week after adding titles at the 2014 Collegiate Shoot-Out at The Orleans on Tuesday.

San Jose State trailed Urbana throughout Tuesday's competition, but rallied during the final position round to capture the victory with a total pinfall of 12,748, including bonus pins. Urbana took home second with 12,546, while Webber International moved up to third in the position round with 12,102.

Wichita State recorded their fifth consecutive win at the Collegiate Shoot-Out with a final tally of 11,946, including bonus pins. Webber International finished second with 11,291, and Fresno State took third with 10,735.

Both the San Jose State men and Wichita State women were victorious at the 2014 Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational at the South Point Bowling Plaza on Sunday.

Urbana's Graham Fach posted games of 266, 279, 279, 288, 240 and 267 on his way to the men's individual honors with a 1,619 six-game block (269.83 average). Webber's Justin Dunn finished second with 1,435, while Brock Finch of Urbana took third with 1,411. Waldorf's Jeremia Bonstrom (1,407) and San Jose State's Darren Tang (1,402) ended up fourth and fifth, respectively.

Wichita State's Daria Kovalova finished at the top of the women's individual standings for the second consecutive event, pacing the field with a 1,349 series (224.83). Marian's Taylor Davis finished second with 1,323, and Webber's Daria Pajak (1,308), Fresno State's Clarissa Samano (1,291) and Emmanuel's Destiny Harper (1,265) rounded out the top five.
