Sectional assignments determined for 2024 Intercollegiate Team Championships

ARLINGTON, Texas – The nation’s best collegiate bowling programs have their sights set on postseason play now that sectional assignments have been announced for the 2024 Intercollegiate Team Championships, which will mark the 50th edition of the event’s history.

The sectional assignments were broadcast live on BowlTV on Wednesday night and introduced the 80 women’s programs and 80 men’s teams moving ahead in the 2023-2024 United States Bowling Congress Collegiate season with the opportunity to claim the coveted Helmer Cup.

The sectional qualifiers will be held across four locations March 9-10. The locations include Stardust Bowl in Addison, Illinois; Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, Michigan; Cityview Lanes in Fort Worth, Texas; and Smyrna Bowling Center in Smyrna, Tennessee.

The top four teams in each division will advance from their sectional and head to Kingpin Lanes in Jeffersontown, Kentucky, for the 2024 ITC from April 17-20.

With the regular season concluding over the weekend, the top-ranked teams heading into the sectional qualifiers are the Wichita State men and Mount Mercy women, both of whom ended the regular season atop their respective divisions for the second year in a row.

The Wichita State men are the defending national champions and have captured a record 13 ITC titles. The Shockers will be starting their title defense at the Fort Worth Sectional at Cityview Lanes.

The Mount Mercy women are looking to make their fifth consecutive appearance at the ITC and will compete at the Addison Sectional, as will McKendree, which enters the 2024 postseason looking to claim back-to-back ITC titles.

The final Tier I event of the 2023-2024 regular season took place Feb. 10-11 at the Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis, and the bracket wins in the 55th edition of the tournament went to the Lawrence Tech men and Wichita State women.

Lawrence Tech will be in Allen Park, and Wichita State will make its way to Fort Worth.
