Shockley on Board as BowlersMart Expands

The BowlersMart pro shop chain has announced the addition of USBC Gold level coach Richard Shockley to its staff.

Shockley, a former Team USA National Team Assistant Coach and former Team USA Junior National Team Head Coach, was a part of the inaugural USA Bowling Gold Coach class of 1999.

“While BowlersMart’s core business is pro shop sales, we recognize the need to support other areas of the sport to feed our core business. We have to continue to develop bowlers from a young age in order to secure the growth of our sport,” said Cliff Barnes, President of BowlersMart.

“I am extremely excited to join the team at BowlersMart and have the opportunity to share my 30-plus years of coaching knowledge with bowlers of all skill levels,” said Shockley. “We all know that when bowlers improve their skills, they stay with our sport longer and enjoy it much more. The possibilities are endless to be able to coach for BowlersMart, and I look forward to getting started.”

Shockley will start at BowlersMart in mid-September, supporting operations in the Rockford, Ill., and Chicago markets.

BowlersMart opened its 21st location this week inside Brunswick Zone Woodridge. This Chicago metro area shop will be operated by 15-year industry veteran Paul Colombani, who previously operated Competitive Edge Pro Shop at the same location. BowlersMart also anticipates the opening of its 22nd location on Oct. 1 at Cherry Bowl in Rockford.

“With the opening of both of these locations, we knew that we had to have a dedicated coach in the marketplace, and Richard is the perfect fit for BowlersMart,” said John Gaines, VP of Bowler Development. “Richard’s long history of coaching excellence and pro shop experience gives him the knowledge base to work with any level of bowler in our sport.”
